Research Interests
The analysis and the cognition of melody; formalized theories of music
cognition; perception of stylistic form and content; weighting of
hierarchical structures; cognitive rule mapping; theories of musical
performance; automatic composition; and structural analogues between
painting and music. Works in progress include theories of aesthetic
syntax in melody, perception of harmonic dissonance, and fMRI
brain mapping of musical parameters.
